We visited the Travel Malaysia Fair held at Expo in May 11 to see if there were any good deals. It didn't seem very promising at first until we spotted the Bukit Gambang Resort City (BGRC) booth. It is located in Gambang, a small town just outside Kuantan. DH had suggested a repeat visit to Kuantan (we went there in 2007) when we were planning our year end trip last year. We couldn't go there then because it was the monsoon season.
We were sold by the picture painted by the sales person i.e. the kids will have a blast at the water park, it is a pretty new resort, we can go for activities like paintball shooting, flying fox etc... We ended up buying a one night accommodation voucher in its family suite.
The family suite comes with 2 bedroom, a living room, 2 bathrooms and a tiny kitchenette. Having stayed in Somerset Ampang for the 2 previous nights, I couldn't help but notice the stark difference. I told myself I had to be realistic since the 2 are obviously of a different grade so I kept reminding myself to lower my expectations. Having said that, I was glad we didn't buy a 2 nites voucher....

To be fair, we did have a blast at the water park! The kids and me had fun at the water playground:
The real fun began when we rented the floats. The waves in the wave pool were really strong! The various slides were fun too. What made the whole experience more enjoyable was the fact that all of us could go on the slides since the kids are much older now. The biggest surprise must be the lazy river. We thought we could just lie back and relax in our floats but we were wrong! Towards the end of the ride, the lazy river came alive, instead of drifting down the peaceful river, we found ourselves being ousted around! The river had been turned into a mini wave pool! The lazy river was not lazy after all:) We enjoyed it so much that we went for a second round.
All in all, the water park is a fun place to bring kids. It would have been a good stay if not for the condition of the apartment....
